Ugly Christmas Sweaters

And now some more cool stuff on ugly Christmas sweaters.  So, last weekend right before my ugly Christmas sweater party, my little sister texted me and told me that there were some guys on the Jay Leno Show  talking about how they have made ugly sweater their business and they even wrote a book about it.  It's pretty cool.  You can see the clips HERE and HERE is their website. 

Their sweaters are pretty pricey, so I am thinking that next year I will sell some of my old ones for way cheaper.  Good idea?  Ha. I hope so.  I am just glad to see that this great idea is catching on and more and more people are hosting their own parties and enjoying this great holiday season!

The Daily Dish Video Clip

The video is up!  Ha ha!  We had a blast filming with them and totally enjoyed spending the morning in the studio.  We checked in and waited for a few minutes in the 'green room.'  Then we met with Whitney the producer for the show and she took us into the studio.  She told us when we would be up and then we just watched some of the other crews that were filming the weather, news, etc.... and then waited until it was our turn.  We got to meet Nicea Degering and Brianne Johnson (the hosts) who were funny and very friendly! 

We made them wear sweaters during the clip and we just had a good time.  It was a little awkward when I had to turn around and show the back of my sweater, ha!   Thanks for coming Monica and enjoy the little video clip.  What a fun tradition that we have!  Here are pics that I snapped in the studio:

The Daily Dish show was awesome!  I will post more about it later this week.  It was way fun and I am glad that I (we) did it. 

The Daily Dish Utah

AHHH!!  So, early this afternoon I received an email and then a phone call from a local reporter from the ABC 4 News here is Salt Lake City.  They invited me and a guest to appear on their morning show, The Daily Dish tomorrow!! 

	The Daily Dish is a a talk/variety show geared to everyone that lives in Utah! They talk about local fashion, fun, food, fitness, events, hot topics and more.

They want me to come on and discuss my ugly sweater parties that I have been throwing for the past 7 years.  How cool is that?  I invited my sister Monica to go with me, since she has been a major help in planning these parties for the last few years!  So tune in tomorrow, Wednesday, December 14th from 9-10 am to see us on the air.  It's on the CW channel locally here in Utah.  I am pretty sure it will be online too after the filming, so I will post that once it is up.

Just a sneak peak

The 7th Annual Neck N Nog - Sweater and Wassail party was a success!!  Thanks to everyone who came, helped set up, brought desserts, etc......  It was such a fun night!  Below are a few pics that I took with the iphone and the recipe that I used for the wassail. 

I will post the official pics later this week.  There are tons of them that we need to go through and then they will be up for your viewing pleasure.  So stay tuned. 

WASSAIL RECIPE:

8 cups of apple juice

4 cups of orange juice

1 cup lemon juice

a dash of brown sugar

1 tablespoon allspice berries

1 teaspoon of whole cloves

3-4 cinnamon sticks

*Add all ingredients together in a large saucepan.  Simmer for at least 30 minutes while stirring occasionally.  It will also add a great scent to your home.  Enjoy!

The Ugly Sweater Party is almost here!

This is your friendly reminder to come.  It's on this upcoming Sunday, December 11th at 6:30 pm in SLC at the Shields Residence.  It is going to be the classiest party of the season with lots of good drinks, food and desserts! 

My sister and I have been finishing the final things/ideas for the party and I think we are all set to go.  I found most of the mugs from storage and have plenty of sweater options to decide from.  Now just to finish off on the wassail recipe and finish some other odds and ends.  I have been asked by a few people about how many sweaters/mugs I have and if they can have/buy some.  Maybe next year I will have to sell some of the sweaters that I have.  Maybe I will do it.  Ha.  Stay tuned......

Ugly Christmas Sweater Party

I don't want to jump the gun or anything, but I am way too excited for this and have to get you guys excited for this year's Ugly Christmas Sweater Party, otherwise known as 'The Neck N Nog - Sweater & Wassail Party.'

This is the 7th year of doing the party, and I still love it.  I have been hitting up all of the DI and Savers stores and getting more mugs and looking for the perfect sweater or turtleneck to wear.  You have to go early or else the good ones go quick, trust me.  And you always get a few weird looks when you are browsing sweaters in the women's section, ha! 

We will have yummy desserts, home made wassail, hot cocoa and egg nog.  And the photo booth will also be there to capture all of these great moments. 

This year the party will be back in Salt Lake City, and here in the invite that my sister made.  She is also helping me host the party this year. 

So save the date, December 11, 2011 at 6:30 pm in SLC and get your festive clothes and Christmas Spirit ready!  It's gonna be a great party, like they always are.
