Husband of the Week Award

A few weeks ago I purchased some flights for the wifey to fly down to Southern CA go to her friend's baby shower and see some other friends down there.  It was supposed to be a surprise, but I over heard the wifey on the phone saying she would love to teach the Relief Society lesson that Sunday.  (Which was the Sunday that she would be gone!)  So, I ended up telling her about the trip so she could still go and she could teach another week the next month.

Well it all worked out great.  She flew down first thing Friday morning to LAX and spent the next 3.5 days with friends, attended the baby shower and covered everything from LA to San Diego!  She flew back just in time to go trick or treating on Halloween night.  The wifey is 24 weeks preggo and Lisa is 28 weeks, and they are both having girls!  Hooray for babies!

We are having a......?

We find out the sex of the baby tomorrow.  I am beyond excited.  We have been thinking of names and now we can narrow it down to just one of the lists.  Please vote below and let us know what you think we are having, a boy or girl.

*Now remember that the wifey has had a very different pregnancy than last time. The majority of people say that it's a girl because of this, but I am sticking to my guns and saying it is another boy. Ha!

Drum Roll Please....... Introducing...... -Turner James Shields who was born at 2:43 am on 10.13.09. He was 7 pounds 6 ounces and 20 inches long. We checked into the hospital at 7'ish pm on monday night. after having contractions all day an epidural was given at 11 pm and Turner made his arrival a few hours later. He is perfect! Natalie was a trooper and made it look easy. We are so excited for our new adventure with Turner.

yup, we spent saturday afternoon strolling around the zoo,
wishfully thinking that it would put natalie into labor.
no luck, but all of the baby animals were awesome!

one last get-away.....

we snuck away to park city this past weekend
for 1 last getaway, it was great!
the leaves are changing and were breath-taking.
we stayed at the cozy 'blue church lodge' on park ave.
had a great teriyaki dinner followed by ice cream and a movie.
we slept in and had a late breakfast and did a little shopping
before heading to provo for a byu football win.
(more pics to come soon.)

the things you do.....

yup, that's right. i painted, well tried to paint natalie's toenails the other night.

it took me a couple tries and a few colors to finally get it right though, but I got it.

apparently it is hard to paint your own toe nails when you are 38 weeks pregnant,

or so says nat, ha ha ha!

only 10 more days until the due date.

31 weeks and counting.....

it's weird that baby turner will be here in 9 weeks, weird, yet very exciting! right now he is about 15 inches in length and weighs about 3.5 pounds. he can open and close his eyes, he can hear our voices and sounds, and his fingernails are long enough to scratch! how cool is that?!
we were baby shopping last weekend in park city, and went a little overboard. we already got him a halloween costume. stay tuned for that in the future.

the verdict is in friends.....

the ultrasound was absolutely amazing! we were surprised and amazed about how much they can show you. we saw everything from head to toe, and about half way through we spotted it. yes that's right, WE ARE HAVING A BOY! and we shall call him turner. the nurse called him a 'manchild', that's why we posted this pic to prove it! ha. we are so excited and wait for the big day in october. turner is also giving the 'peace' sign in one of the pics, too funny!

considerations

i am thinking that i will post a weekly picture and a weekly
news quote from online, ya know just to keep things
interesting on here. oh, and weekly updates about how the
fetus is developing. there are quite some interesting facts about
being pregnant and the whole development process. surprisingly, i am
quite interested in it.

so stay tuned for some great posts that will be
occurring in the near future.

S U S H I

we {both nat and i} were itchin' for sushi last night.
because nat is preggo and has to avoid
certain fish types/raw foods
we asked the server
for the sushi rolls
that are cooked, not "raw".
now don't judge, we have thought
deeply about what you can and cannot eat.
and these sushi rolls were safe.
we ordered plenty and chowed down.
tepanyaki has yet to fail me.
keep up the good work
we will be back very soon!

the B I G news

so, i guess this is considered big news. we have know for quite some time, but we we finally went to the doctor last week and well, when 2 people are in love they come together, well you know what it is. we are having a baby! nat is 11 weeks pregnant and the due date is october 6th, 2009. we heard the heart beat last week and it was incredible!

to announce this to our family we send out this picture:
now, i am sure that there are some of you who don't get it, so here goes a little explanation. my brother brett is married to natalie's sister teresa, and these are their 3 kids. so now that we are having a kid they will be 'double cousins', get it? i hope so, if not then ask questions.

we are really stoked to be parents and for this new experience in our lives. so the word is out, i guess that makes it official, or something like that. please share your comments with us.
