a lunch surprise

(some of the pastries/desserts at normandies)

as i was driving home for lunch break (ya i work so close to home i can go eat there, it's awesome) the mrs. calls me and asks if i want to meet her, turner and g and g for lunch. i agree and we end up at a restaurant of grandma's choice.  i have never heard of it before and it is only a few miles from our house.

to my surprise it was a great choice.  it was a quaint little cafe/bakery in holladay, ut.  grandma has a good friend from ca. that took her there before.  and as we walk in, her friend is there eating, small world.  we order and then admire the perfection of the sugar cookies decorated for the upcoming easter holiday, and enjoy the warm atmosphere.

i ordered the reuben sandwich and a bowl of the french onion soup, which were both delicious.  the mrs. enjoyed the soup of the day with a turkey avocado sandwich, gma enjoyed a sandwich and gpa had a wrap and soup.  excellent food and excellent prices.  i/we would highly recommend it.

this place that we enjoyed so much is called normandie cafe and it's excellent.  although, it is definately a popular place for the older crowd, if you know what i mean.  either way, it's good food and next time i am trying one of those cookies.

Normandie is amazing. Their cookies are the best! My husband's aunt and cousin have worked there for years and always bring us goodies....I think I want one now!
