What a crazy, stressful and beautiful week we had! Last Tuesday night the wifey was having some pain, along with some blood and other fluids and we decided to go to the hospital. She was admitted, her water broke and we thought we would be having our baby 4 weeks early! After about 18 hours of contractions, there were some concerns with the baby and his heartbeat, so she was rushed into the OR for an emergency c-section. Within 20 minutes we were able to meet our new baby! We named him Dean Jeffrey Shields. He weighed 6 pounds 9 ounces (big for being 4 weeks early) and was 19.5 inches long and has way more hair than our other kids had that is golden blonde. He was screaming when they pulled him out and peed right after on the OR staff.
It all happened so fast and I am so thankful that everyone is healthy and we are now back at home. Dean was on quick alert and had to pass multiple tests before we could bring him home. We are so happy that he didn't have to go to the NICU either. Natalie is doing well, but has quite the recovery to go. C sections are no joke! The kiddos happened to be in UT this week for their cousins baptism and the timing worked out well since we were at the hospital non stop all week. Welcome to the family baby Dean! Wish us luck as we begin this next chapter as a family of 6!
